Saving Another Swarm

It has been a hectic summer, so far, with many things diverting my attention from the bees. However, yesterday evening I completed extracting a fairly good sized swarm that had taken up residence in the foundation of a house out in the wilds. More info and pictures will end up at THIS link:

Gray House Extraction

It was a bit of a challenge, as the structure of the foundation made it a challenge to figure out WHERE the bees were living. And, of course, there were a couple of equipment issues and time conflicts that made it more of a challenge than I would have liked. However, as of this morning, there is another healthy, happy colony tucked away in the Apiary, with a lot of brood and not much honey at hand for them.

My task for today, as regards the bees, is to make up some bee candy, and get them a snack going on, so they will start building out the comb chunks I extracted from the structure and wired into frames in their new, brood box home.
