{"id":790,"date":"2016-04-20T17:33:27","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T21:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beemandave.com\/beemanblog\/?p=790"},"modified":"2016-06-15T17:51:44","modified_gmt":"2016-06-15T21:51:44","slug":"ever-visited-an-old-growth-redwood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beemandave.com\/beemanblog\/blog\/2016\/04\/20\/ever-visited-an-old-growth-redwood\/","title":{"rendered":"Ever Visited an Old Growth Redwood?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Greetings and Salutations;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Some of the most amazing and majestic trees left in America are the old growth Redwoods, living out West. \u00a0 However, \u00a0thanks to the issues brought on by Global Climate Change, \u00a0 these treasures are in trouble. \u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.takepart.com\/feature\/2016\/04\/18\/racing-save-ancient-redwood-forests-climate-change?cmpid=tp-fb\">Here is a very worthwhile article<\/a>\u00a0that I recommend we all read and contemplate what it is saying<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/beemandave.com\/beemanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/redwoods-MAIN1b.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-789\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-789\" src=\"https:\/\/beemandave.com\/beemanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/redwoods-MAIN1b-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Man Climbing Old Growth Redwood\" width=\"435\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beemandave.com\/beemanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/redwoods-MAIN1b-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/beemandave.com\/beemanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/redwoods-MAIN1b-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/beemandave.com\/beemanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/redwoods-MAIN1b-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/beemandave.com\/beemanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/redwoods-MAIN1b.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/a>.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0These trees have been around for hundreds and hundreds of years, \u00a0quietly growing larger, and doing their job of providing habitat for the creatures of the forest floor, \u00a0and filtering the contaminents out of the air that blows through their branches. \u00a0 Thanks to mankinds poor stewardship, and, actions taken without understanding the process of what was going on, or, the long-term consequences of those actions, \u00a0the climate is changing. \u00a0These changes have caused weather conditions to become more extreme, and, have put the Redwoods under serious stress because of the drought that every year seems to bring. \u00a0 \u00a0We need to understand that these great Trees are the canary in the coal mine. \u00a0 They are warning us that the changes we are inflicting on Mother Earth can and WILL kill us, too. \u00a0 We are at least as fragile as these trees, and so, when there is no growing weather left for food, \u00a0and there is no water for keeping us alive thanks to drought, and contamination of fresh water sources by Industry&#8230;Humanity itself is in danger.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">\u00a0\u00a0 Most of us cannot be completely &#8220;Green&#8221;&#8230;and no reasonable person expects us to be. \u00a0However, we, as an attempt to return to being Good Stewards of the Earth, should make the effort to be as green as POSSIBLE. \u00a0 \u00a0Minimize our use of electricity and water. \u00a0 Purchase vehicles that are smaller, and lighter, and, more efficient. \u00a0 In spite of decades of proof, there are too many of us believe that driving a huge SUV that gets 8 MPG, in order to take ourselves to the store a mile away or our kids to school half a mile away, \u00a0is a good and necessary thing.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Recycle what you can. \u00a0 Yes&#8230;It is kind of a pain in the butt to take the time to crush aluminum cans and separate them out, \u00a0or rinse out the milk bottles and put them and other plastics in the appropriate bin for pickup. \u00a0However, a couple of minutes extra is not too much, I believe, to help ensure that our grandchildren and great grandchildren will have a world to live in.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Have you read the book &#8220;Dune&#8221; by Frank Herbert?
