I do not know about y’all, \u00a0but, as a Citizen of America, \u00a0who loves my country, \u00a0I am getting pretty damn tired of the Donald saying it is a pile of shit, \u00a0and we would be lucky for him to come in and clean it up for us. \u00a0 That, to me, \u00a0is a combination of living in a beau monde’\/Fantasy World and, \u00a0a painfully strong level of hubris \u00a0– allowing him and his minions to buy into this lies about America, \u00a0and the idea that The Donald is likely to “clean it up for us”.<\/div>\n

America has its problems; \u00a0No one argues about that. \u00a0 Over the decades, \u00a0we, as a society have supported our government’s engagement in illegal, \u00a0secret wars in Southeast Asia, \u00a0the Middle East, and other places around the world. \u00a0 We have supported our government imprisoning civilians on foreign soil, \u00a0and torturing them on a daily basis, \u00a0in a vain attempt to extract information about terrorist activities around the world. \u00a0 This in spite of the facts that many of these civilians were swept up by their own country, \u00a0in order to cash in on the bounties offered by our armed forces; \u00a0that they were, in most cases, \u00a0totally in the dark about terrorists, \u00a0because they were often the target of said terrorists; \u00a0We have supported our government in participating in illegal activities ranging from drug running to arms sales to anyone, \u00a0friend and enemy alike; \u00a0We have supported our police turning into a pseudo military force, \u00a0with the toys, \u00a0but not the training or understanding to avoid treating the citizenry as if they were enemies on the battlefield; \u00a0 We have allowed the powerful in our society to luxuriate in their riches, \u00a0and leave people in need (the poverty stricken, \u00a0the folks with mental or physical health issues, \u00a0the Veterans we have created by our wars) to rot in the street; \u00a0We have allowed our governments to oppress subgroups of our society for no sane reason. \u00a0 I could go on for a LOT longer, \u00a0but, this hits the high points.<\/div>\n

Too many of these problems come from the intolerant and hateful speech of the Right-Wing, \u00a0although we Left-Winger’s can hop in that cesspool too. \u00a0 Too many of these problems stem from the contempt for education and rational thought that has been growing in America for the past 30+ years. \u00a0 There are many facets to this sad state of affairs, \u00a0but these are big ones.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 That having been said…in a larger sense, \u00a0America is STILL a great country. \u00a0 Every day, \u00a0when I skim my Face-book connection, \u00a0 I see stories of police and firefighters putting their lives on the line to go the extra mile and save citizens or their companion animals from disaster. \u00a0 I see stories of citizens who go out of their way to rescue abused animals, \u00a0and try to get them healthy and into a good home. \u00a0I see stories of random acts of kindness to strangers. \u00a0I see postings from friends and strangers, \u00a0including pictures, \u00a0of experiences and lovely places in this great country that they have enjoyed. \u00a0 I even have had the opportunity to debate, in a civil, \u00a0rational way, \u00a0the pros and cons of both Presidential Candidates. \u00a0 So, it is my claim that for the Donald to claim that America needs to be made great again is an insult to every citizen of this country. \u00a0 As noted before, we have problems. \u00a0 However, \u00a0fixing those problems does not mean taking a wrecking ball to the country’s government, and world-wide reputation, \u00a0and rebuilding from scratch. \u00a0 That is not the view of a negotiator, \u00a0but it certainly is the view of a fairly bad developer.<\/div>\n

This election cycle is, with no doubt, \u00a0the slimiest and ugliest Presidential election I have seen in my 60+ years of life. \u00a0 As the time grows short to November 8th, \u00a0when the election actually happens and the questions are resolved about who will occupy the White House for the next four years, \u00a0the Donald’s level of rhetoric is getting increasingly insane. \u00a0 Just the other day, \u00a0at \u00a0a rally of his minions, \u00a0 he claimed that if he loses the election it will be because of a world-wide conspiracy involving President Obama, \u00a0HRC, \u00a0and the vast ocean of uber-rich Commies \u00a0and Muslims out there that want to destroy America. \u00a0 \u00a0If this election were not so outrageously important, it would be a great TV Reality Show… \u00a0 Should we, as a society, \u00a0accept and reward this kind of hateful rhetoric that is so obviously a lie? \u00a0 \u00a0The donald claims that he is the only one that can clean up the problems. \u00a0 This is foolish, \u00a0and impossible. \u00a0If America is to improve, then, it will take the efforts of ALL of us…not one person.<\/div>\n

How can we go about this? \u00a0 We, citizens, \u00a0must focus on supporting the President, \u00a0and demanding of our elected Representatives that they take actions that DO move America forwards. \u00a0The petty tantrums and obstructionism of the past eight years have got to end. \u00a0 The Right-Wingers need to look up and incorporate the definition of the word “Compromise” into their lives, \u00a0and remember that if they want to keep their cushy, well paid jobs, \u00a0they must GOVERN…not simply engage in infighting.<\/div>\n
