Greetings and Salutations….
I thought I would say a couple more things about yesterday’s post with the picture of Adele. Let me explain her situation….Although she is a happy, healthy kitty now, a year ago when she showed up, she was in a bit of trouble. As far as I could tell, she had gotten dumped by her old family, and, abandoned out in the wilds of North East Knoxville. She had been outside in the rough for a bit, but, luckily, had not gotten into any nasty fights, or picked up any serious infections. She was just very, very thin. She is not the first cat we have rescued, nor is it likely she will be the last, which brings me to the thought for this season of Thanksgiving and Advent.
If you have a companion animal that you do not want to deal with any longer – whether it is because you cannot afford it, or, there are allergy issues, or anger issues, or (most sadly) boredom with having the animal around, please at least respect that small life enough to find it a safe place to live. There are no-kill shelters in the Knoxville area – and here is a list of shelters throughout Tennessee where the animal can find refuge until they can get another family. Alternatively, make an effort to find a good home for the creature yourself.
Remember, no matter what your philosophy or belief system, the truth remains ‘…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ I believe this applies even more strongly to those lives that are under our control, for they are the ones that are likely to suffer badly if deserted.
Pleasant Dreams
