Yes, I am sorry to say, that today is another rant on the horrendous political situation in America. On one of the saner threads on Facebook, a person posted some comments about where the country is at now. I could not resist replying…and decided to add excerpts of the dialogue to my blog.

See, we’re waking up to this kind of thing every single day. I know many of you believe in Trump and you just don’t speak up on my page. And I understand, we have quite the progressive posse here.
But surely you are starting to see the problems? If you don’t like blacks – let me explain it to you- ok? Let’s take BET network. Let’s take Biggie Smalls, whose mother just passed fyi. (I just just thought she was so fascinating……) You cannot hold that kind of money back. You cannot. No matter what you do. You cannot hold back street prophets. You can try with your dying breath, but you will not win. You just won’t. You don’t have to like it. But it will prevail.
You don’t like Mexicans, then do your own yard, clean your own motel, you pick the veges and see how you like it. Are you able to stand the sun? Are you built low to the ground? Are you designed for hard labor? I know not a soul that could stand in that heat all day and pick vegetables. I couldn’t and you couldn’t either.
I don’t mean to tell you how to live, but there’s an old saying, folks, that rings clear right now, “live and let live…….”
My Initial comment was this:
It truly horrifies me to see what the Right Wing has turned America into. If this cancer is not removed from society, we will end up a third world nation. We have already lost so much credibility with the rest of the world, it may take a century to regain even a part of it…and this pushing away of friends and allies is already having economic impacts.
I see that as of now, 70% of Canadians are boycotting American products. And 60% of them are canceling planned vacations and visits to the USA. Those numbers ARE growing too.
The massive growth of blatant racism and misogyny in America should embarrass even the #45 supporters. The fact that they embrace it demonstrates what sick, shriveled souls they have. This is, I believe, one of the factors feeding their embracing Putin and Russian society as the ideal that we should attempt to reach.
I have said, for years, that the only people who embrace living in a dictatorship, or a theocracy, are the fools who have never actually lived in one, or, have paid so little attention to history that they have learned nothing.
While I am a generally peaceful person, I look at where we are at today, and I hark back to the French Revolution, and the Reign of Terror that followed it. Is this what it will take to shake up society enough that we will get back on a positive path? I do not know. But I will say, in passing, that I have wanted to build a working guillotine since I was in my teens. And, I am moving closer to the point that I will be happy to run it.
A very wise saying I collected some years ago is this: “Demons Run when a good man goes to war“. I hope the fascists have a tiny flicker of discernment, and take this lesson to heart.

(On trans kids) I will have to say that a child is a child and should not be making adult surgery decisions.It does not matter to me if someone is gay.I have alot of gay friends.I only mentioned my brother because I want people to know that I do not judge someone being gay. Everyone has opinions,I was just stating mine because you ask.
(On the topic of undocumented workers) Because it is illegal.It has hurt many families with illegal drugs flowing in, dangerous criminals,their own women and children being hurt.People that came here legally do not like it. What is wrong with protecting our borders? People can still get Visas to come here and work.
Sharon…It sounds as if you watch too much right-wing propaganda. You are parroting the lies it pushes.
1) A person is trans from the day they are born. However, they cannot get transition surgery until they are past the age of consent. The most that they can do is get puberty blockers. Also, what brings you to believe that this is a quick process. It simply never happens that a 10 year old boy walks in and says “Mom, Dad, I am a girl stuck in the wrong body” and one phone call later the prescription for puberty blocking drugs are prescribed. 2) “Do we have a perfect President?” – Your answer is correct, but, far less than it should be. It sounds as if you are saying “I am OK with #45, because he is human and makes mistakes”. There is a flood of evidence that this view is willfully blind. He and his co-president, Musk, are in the process of destroying the government and the constitution, and by extension, our society. He is blatantly a tool of Putin and the Russian Government. He is actively working to destroy America’s reputation in the world, cut us off from old friends and allies, and re-align the country with Russia.
3) Immigrants and undocumented workers. Your view is, again, nothing more than the lie pushed by the Right-Wing. As others have pointed out, Undocumented workers do many of the tasks that Americans will not do. You do remember, I hope, that during the first #45 administration, his cruel policies dealing with workers coming into the States caused a big drop in the numbers entering. The result? Thousands of acres of produce were plowed back into the ground because they were rotting on the plant. Why? As for drugs and crime. A vast majority of the drugs are imported into the States via ports of call..by white guys engaged in crime. 4) Getting a work Visa – This is a difficult task, taking months of time, at best. Also, the number of visas allowed is ALWAYS a fraction of the numbers of workers needed. Finally…a work visa is often tied to a specific job…so there is no security there. The employer can, at any time, call ICE and deport a worker, for no reason at all. 5) As for protecting the borders…I agree, and the reality is that America does a worse job of it than most other industrialized countries in the world. However, again..this is a Republican problem. They run on fear and hate these days, instead of policies…so they NEED to have the lie of open borders to gen up those emotions in their followers. As a matter of fact, Biden’s administration caught and deported MANY times the number of undocumented immigrants that #45 did. 6) Abortion as birth control…This is not true at all. While there may be one or two cases where this is true, they are meaningless overall. I challenge you to find any evidence of a woman doing this. Essentially ALL abortions are to deal with the effects of a failed pregnancy – including threatening the life of the woman; an offspring of rape; or an unexpected pregnancy that would likely destroy the woman’s life.
If one wants to cut down on abortions, then, stand against the Republicans, who, from day one, have passed laws hindering access to education about sex, birth control options, and the like.
7) Hate for #45 clouds our opinions. I will say that I do not “hate” him…but I deeply despise what he is doing to our country. I look upon him as a stunted, pathetic 5 year old, trapped in a 78 year old body. He had an abusive up-bringing, and because of that, every bit of positive humanity has been ripped from his soul. He loves nothing, as love is a positive emotion. Everyone around him is a tool to use and discard. Every interaction is transactional, where he has GOT to get the better end of the deal. Everyone around him has the same attitude as he does, and is looking for nothing more than the chance to destroy him. Please note that I am not expressing sympathy for him. It is a Hell he has built himself, and, refuses to leave. He has had the resources and opportunities for decades to get therapy to help him grow past the abuse of his childhood. Yet, he has chosen to cling to what he is.
America is in a bad place, and, unless more good people start standing up and defending it, we will disappear as a democracy, and as a first-world nation. Is that the legacy we want to leave our descendants?
